## Use the clues you can see

A lone fence post, a short strand crossing a gap or wire disappearing into a trunk can indicate a longer concealed fence. Point out the visible part from a safe place. Leave uncertain sections alone and tell the contractor what you know about former paddocks or fence lines.

## Decide whether the fence stays

Opening access along a working livestock fence and removing a derelict fence are different jobs. Mark the sections to retain and identify who can authorize removal. Include gates and posts in that conversation. Clearing vegetation along a fence does not automatically include pulling posts or taking away mixed waste.

## Agree on the stop point

Ask what happens if equipment reaches unexpected wire. A useful proposal identifies who pauses that area, how the obstruction is assessed and how any separate removal is priced. That gives you a choice between changing the route, adding removal or retaining the obstructed patch.
